SNSD makes history on weekly Oricon chart
SNSD has made history on
Oricon as the first foreign girl group to make it in the ‘top 3 singles’ ranking since 1980. Having released the Japanese version of “
Gee” only 20 days ago, it’s quite an achievement for the single to land the weekly #2 spot on Japan’s most famous music chart. Their first single “
Genie” previously ranked 4th on the list.
Oricon’s website posted a message stating,
“SNSD, the first Asian girl group to have their single land in the top 3.”
“Gee” is also currently 1st on
iTunes Japan, on Japanese music site
Musico, and on mobile site
recochoku. The music video is also ranking 1st on a number of charts.
In further news, SNSD will be performing their new single “
Hoot” on this week’s
Music Bank.
